The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan

The Dark Pictures Anthology: Man of Medan is a horror game in the format of an interactive story, the action of which begins on a ship in the Pacific Ocean. A group of friends and a captain set off to look for the remains of ships and combat vehicles from World War II. The plans are disrupted by a storm, and the heroes find themselves aboard an abandoned ship. You need to get out of there alive, and decisions are made quickly and remain in the memory of the game until the end. Characters can be lost, and then the story will continue without them. The choice of cues and actions affects relationships within the group. Some scenes are played out together with a partner, and then the heroes act together. The mood is based on silence and creaks, and sudden appearances only complement it. Cinematic inserts emphasize the setting, and the camera looks at what is happening from the side. Replies in dialogues change the attitude of the characters towards each other. Scenes with fast clicks require attention, and a miss is costly. The passage can be completed by two people, distributing heroes between players. A submarine, a ship graveyard and an abandoned ship are connected by scraps of records. In the darkness you can hear something moving behind the bulkhead. The compass and flashlight quickly become staple items. A few hours later, the story takes a turn, and the previous suspicions lose their meaning. The game disc is designed for multiple playthroughs, and that’s the point of the idea. The plot is kept in suspense for about four hours. Heroes' unnecessary suspicions sometimes cost them their lives. For those who appreciate short stories with stakes, the game is suitable.
