NHL 2005

NHL 2005 is part of a series in which the developers took defense and goalkeeping seriously. Goaltenders are starting to act differently: they read the situation, know how to trap the puck, and don’t go out of bounds for no reason. Because of this, goals became more expensive, and strikers had to learn to create chances rather than just shoot on target. More physics has appeared on the ice: wrestling along the boards, pushing, body impacts and tackles work taking into account the speed and weight of the hockey players. Power moves have become part of tactics - sometimes a team wins a match precisely due to pressure, not class. Additionally, we improved stick control, which made it possible to more accurately play combinations in the majority. Dynasty mode allows you to manage the club over the long haul: roster, draft, injuries, budget and youth work. In addition, there are friendlies, tournaments and quick matches where you can just ride. Let us separately note the work with the majority: playing an extra player has become a separate discipline, and majority teams behave differently depending on the selection of performers. Dynasty drafts and trades allow you to gradually upgrade your roster without disrupting your team structure. This was a period for the series where simulation and entertainment were finally balanced. For its year, the game looked and sounded solid: commentary, replays and arena design were at the level of a television broadcast. Many consider the NHL 2005 to be one of the most balanced parts in the history of the series.
