Fight Night Round 3 is a boxing simulator in which the developers relied on cinematography. The matches are presented in the style of a television broadcast: ring announcer announcements, commentators' work, replays and analysis of episodes. Even the singles fight looks like a real night of boxing, and not just a fight on the screen. In the ring, everything is felt physically: a blow to the jaw drops an opponent, and fatigue in the later rounds changes both speed and footwork. An important role is played by the ability to keep your distance and avoid the blow in time, and not wave your arms. Missed sequences accumulate damage, and the angle of vision can begin to drift, which makes the end of the battle especially difficult. A career is built around the created fighter: training camps, selection of opponents and the path to the title. Between fights you have to monitor your form and recovery, and improper preparation results in a defeat for which only you are responsible. The roster includes famous boxers from different years, which adds weight to the fights. It is also worth noting that the game has a training system where you can learn specific techniques and defense against them. Between fights they show an analysis of the fight, and the coach and doctor influence recovery after difficult rounds. This is rare depth outside the ring for a boxing simulator. Due to its demanding and entertaining nature, Fight Night Round 3 is still often called one of the best boxing games. It punishes carelessness and generously rewards understanding of distance - a rare combination for the genre.
