Description
The Football Manager 2007 is part of the era when the management genre in this series finally took shape. The game gives complete control over the club: tactics, training, composition, transfers, conversations with the press and communication with the board of directors. The processes are already deep, but not yet overloaded with details, which is why this release is still unpopular with those who prefer clarity to depth.
A text-based match engine with a visual diagram shows episodes with key moments, so the season goes by quickly and decisions are made consciously. Scouts look for players in different countries, and the reports contain enough information to understand whether it is worth spending the money.
Separately, it is worth noting the opportunity to start a career in any division: many chose a club from the lower league and gradually raised it to the top, which in itself becomes a separate story for dozens of seasons. Budget and reputation constraints make it difficult to achieve success quickly, and this makes victories more valuable.
Separately, it is worth noting the opportunity to work with national teams: in addition to a club career, you can take a national team and conduct a qualifying round. Injuries and suspensions complicate planning, and the age of the players forces them to find replacements in time. For the genre, this was already a completely mature version with well-thought-out logic.
For veterans of the genre, this part is a pleasant memory of a time when managers were more complex than they seemed, but did not require studying hundreds of screens of statistics.
