BattleBlock Theater

BattleBlock Theater is a platformer with cartoon graphics and a side view, where the plot is based on one simple goal: save Hattie Hattington. You are invited to play as a prisoner who goes through the theater levels. The theater here serves as a labyrinth: the stages are rearranged, and between the floors there are shops and rooms with awards. The levels vary in pace, and some of them require speed. The gameplay is based on jumping, dashing and working with blocks: some tiles crumble, others move out, and some obstacles react to pressing. You have to collect both passages and gems, which then open up something new. Gems are counted both by quantity and by time, and for collecting them, additional levels and cosmetics are unlocked. Some of the tests require patience. Collected gems unlock new hats and levels for the editor. Levels are divided into chapters, and each one adds mechanics and enemies, from spikes to guns. The voices and comments of the narrator turn the passage into a show, and some of the scenes are memorable with jokes. The humor is based on voices and comments: the narrator comments on almost every mistake, and the jokes do not stop until the credits. The levels allow you to play alone or in a group. Co-op allows you to go through the campaign together, and the level editor allows you to create your own challenges and publish them. The community has made quite a few challenging maps over the years for those who don't find the basic difficulty enough. For those who love fun platformers and non-stop humor, this theater is perfect.
