The main gift to fans was the return of fights under the auspices of Pride Fighting Championship: a Japanese ring with a different set of permitted techniques, including kicks to a prone opponent, which you won’t see in the UFC cage. The combat itself has become more responsive. The system of painful techniques has been rewritten: now the fight for a hold turns into a mini-game, where it is important to guess the direction, and not desperately press buttons at random. Standing, ground, attempts to move the opponent down and getting out of control work more coherently than in previous parts, and the fights finally resemble real five-round battles with the gradual accumulation of fatigue. A career begins with the creation of a fighter: appearance, style, set of techniques and the path from amateur tournaments to the champion belt. Between fights there are trainings that directly change the characteristics, and you have to choose what to improve - striking technique, wrestling or endurance. The composition of the participants is huge: the WEC light weight categories were added to the heavyweights, and the roster included almost all the stars of that time. Fighting on the ground, where reaction used to decide everything, now requires patience: you need to monitor your stamina, defend yourself in time and understand which transition leads to which position. The computer no longer gives up on the script - it itself looks for a gap and punishes for inattention in the last seconds of the round. In multiplayer, fights drag out into a full-fledged thriller: a tired opponent begins to make mistakes, and the main thing is not to miss his chance. Plus a mode for four players on one screen, tournaments and online. UFC Undisputed 3 is still considered one of the most respected mixed martial arts games - in part because it manages to be challenging without cheap computer tricks.
