Description
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater HD is an attempt to return the series to its roots, when there were no huge open worlds or stories: only parks, railings and combos. The remaster collected the levels from the first two parts and redrew them in high resolution, but retained the classic rules: the race is limited in time, tasks are given in a list, and you need to score as many points as possible.
The controls remain the same, so the combinations you've played are remembered almost immediately: grinds, kickflips, heelflips, spins and mid-air combinations. The value here is not in the graphics, but in the fact that short sessions are still addictive: it always seems that the next combo will turn out better.
In addition to single races, there are network modes and record tables where you can compare your scores with others. Additional levels from the third part were added later, which extended the life of the game and brought back a little more nostalgia.
The peculiarity of such remasters is that the game is built around short sessions: three or four races per evening, and it already seems that the time was not wasted. The levels from the first parts have been slightly reworked, so veterans who remember every railing have to quickly remember the routes. Some may miss the tricks and levels from the later installments, but as a nostalgic set, the game works well.
The game didn't try to reinvent the genre and received mixed reviews due to its modest content set, but at its core it does an honest job of being fast, clean skateboarding without unnecessary frills.
