Surf's Up! (Лови волну)

Surf's Up! is based on a cartoon about penguin surfers, and this is noticeable from the first seconds: familiar characters, bright colors and a tournament named after Big Z, around which all the action is built. There is almost no plot in the usual sense - instead of a long story, the player is given a series of competitions where he needs to reach the finish line before his opponents and perform tricks along the way. The mechanics are simple and fast: accelerate on the wave, catch the desired section, jump and land in time so as not to lose speed. Tricks and spins give extra points, and falling throws you back, so you rarely complete the distance the first time. New boards and characters are gradually unlocked, each with their own characteristics. You can not only play alone: a second player connects to one computer, however, he will need a gamepad. Races with two become more exciting, because pushing in narrow sections of the wave is allowed, and victory in the last meters is especially valued. The waves in the game are generated taking into account the bottom topography, so the same route is traversed in a new way. Openable boards affect speed and control, and characters differ from each other in more than just their appearance. This is an ideal option for short sessions: the ride lasts a couple of minutes, but the excitement remains for a long time. The graphics are nice for its time, the music and design convey the mood of the cartoon. This is not a deep surfing simulator, but a fun arcade game for the family, and in this role it works exactly as it should.
