Description

Stellaris is a real-time strategy game where the player becomes the head of a galactic power from the first minutes. There are a huge number of ships and their varieties in the game, and merchant ships carrying resources scurry between planets. The initial setup takes a long time: ethics, species origin, and form of government determine the entire party. The galaxy map is generated anew, and the number of star systems can be set in advance. Research proceeds slowly: scientific ships discover star systems, find anomalies and encounter alien civilizations. Each such discovery changes the map and plans, and sometimes leads to a conflict that no one agreed on. The event system throws up plots: pirates, ancient ruins and forerunners can change the balance of power. An empire is built from little things: ethics, traditions and the origin of the species determine the character of the state, and decisions on colonies, slaves and robots determine what it becomes. Diplomacy, trade agreements and federations make it possible to reach the end without major wars, but aggressive neighbors have not been canceled either. Colonies require management: housing, jobs, food and crime come in one package. Fleets are assembled from modules, and admirals and generals receive their own traits and skills. The expansions significantly expanded the game, adding crises, megastructures, and entire galaxy storylines. Crises such as an external invasion test the strength of the entire empire and force it to unite with former enemies. For anyone who enjoys large-scale maps and slow-paced nation-building, this galaxy will give hundreds of hours of play.
