Description
Total War: NAPOLEON – Definitive Edition is a strategy edition about the Napoleonic wars, including all the released additions. In addition to the main campaign in Europe, there are separate scenarios: the Egyptian campaign and the Italian campaign, where events develop around the young Napoleon. Each scenario offers its own map, its own goals and its own opponents.
The gameplay is familiar to the series: turn-based management of provinces, diplomacy, trade and city development are combined with large-scale battles in real time. The supply line, the morale of the troops and the formation of regiments play an important role - simply collecting a lot of soldiers is not enough, you also need to position them correctly.
Sea battles in this part are done in detail: sailing ships obey the wind, and the choice of distance for a broadside decides the outcome. Special mention should be made of sieges and engineering work, which require their own pace, and not just mass pressure.
It is also worth noting that campaigns contain historical events with their own conditions: for example, battles where the outcome depends on a specific move. Diplomacy allows you to gather allies or, conversely, set opponents at odds with each other. For strategies about this era, such detail is rare.
The edition is convenient for those who do not want to deal with purchasing separate add-ons: everything is already included, and the campaigns can be completed in any order. The game isn't the biggest in the series, but it does focus on an era that Total War didn't touch on nearly as much.
