STAR WARS - Knights of the Old Republic takes the player thousands of years before the events of the classic films, when the Old Republic still ruled the galaxy and the Jedi stood against the Sith. Darth Malak and his fleet bring the Republic to the brink of disaster, and it is you who are tasked with figuring out where the enemy's main weapon is located. The team consists of Jedi Bastila Shan and a small squad of various characters. The game is structured like a role-playing game: there are dialogues, choice of lines, development of skills and resolution of conflicts through persuasion, cunning or force. The light and dark sides are not an abstraction: every decision moves the hero to one of the poles, changing relationships with allies and events in the finale. Because of this, the same story can be played out in completely different ways. Battles follow a system where you can pause the game and give commands to each member of the squad, choosing tactics for the enemy. The companions deserve special attention: each has their own story and their own reasons for coming with you, and you can talk to them between tasks. Separately, it is worth noting that the game has a reputation system: on different planets, the attitude towards the hero depends on the behavior, and some tasks are opened only for a certain side. Training and skill development allow you to assemble completely different characters and teams. For Star Wars fans, this is a rare depth of immersion into the world. The game is surprisingly deep for its time, which is one of the reasons why it is still considered one of the best Star Wars projects.
