Slay the Spire

Slay the Spire is a card roguelike where the task boils down to climbing a tower. Each floor is a set of rooms with opponents, random finds and merchants, and the top is occupied by a creature that will have to be defeated seriously. Before the rise, a character is selected, and his starting deck sets the style of the first battle. You can play as one of four characters, and each has its own supply of cards and style: some deal poison damage, others strengthen themselves, and others erect barriers. The deck is assembled during the race, and the entire strategy depends on a successful combination of cards. Between the floors there are rest and merchants where you can heal, throw away a card or buy a rare item. Cards are upgraded and removed, and the composition of the deck determines whether the hero will draw the next floor. The forks and contents of the rooms change in each campaign, so one tactic does not work twice. Artifacts, potions, and upgrades add surprises, and bosses force you to rework your deck on the fly. Curses and special conditions change the rules of the race, and the rewards for them are higher than usual. Victory is counted at the end of the race, but you want to play again: open maps, new difficulty levels and challenges keep your interest for months. Mods and levels from the community have turned the project into a platform for experimenting with balance. Modifications have added new heroes and entire campaigns, and the balance is constantly discussed by the community. For those who like to think about the deck and make decisions as they go, this tower becomes a habit.
