NBA 2K14

The fifteenth part of the series of basketball simulators was released with the face of LeBron James on the cover and with a mode built around him. "Path to Greatness" offers an unusual look at a career: instead of the rise of a nameless newcomer, the player takes control of an already established star and decides what her future path will be. The script develops based on real events, but allows liberties - you can lead the hero to the next ring, or you can take the plot in a completely different direction. The classic career is still here: the MyCareer allows you to create a player from scratch, take him through camps, the draft and competition for a place on the roster, while also understanding on-court roles and coaching requirements. The matches go at the usual pace for the series: the physics of contacts, work under the shield, screens and deflected shots - all this is verified to the smallest detail and is still considered a standard in the genre. In addition to single-player modes, there is MyTEAM with collecting cards and online meetings with live opponents. The controls feel heavier than in arcade basketball games: quick breaks, body work and precise timing of the shot are more important than spectacular feints. We should also praise the work with the history of the club: the career takes into account injuries, fatigue, the character of the players and the requirements of the coach, which is why the squad has to be constantly shuffled. Online meetings are with live opponents, and trading cards and collections remain the main way to get the right artist. Those who played the title back in the day will remember it for the arena atmosphere and how seriously it took the details. The presentation of the matches and the work of the commentators deserve special mention: the feeling of the television broadcast here is at its best. The NBA 2K14 is one of those parts that is still valued for its depth of simulation and lively arena atmosphere.
