Mortal Shell is an action role-playing game set in a gloomy world where human remains rot among the ruins and the surrounding area is tormented by evil spirits. The hero sets out on a journey in search of his destiny and faces fanatical followers and monsters. The main feature is the shells. Instead of the usual leveling up, here you can occupy the bodies of fallen warriors, and each shell gives its own set of characteristics and skills. One is more comfortable taking a hit, the other is more comfortable dodging, and the choice affects the entire battle. There are also skills like petrification: hardening in time is the only way to survive under attack. Combat requires patience: enemies deal painful blows, and mistakes are rarely forgiven. The world is small but dense, with passages and secrets, and the plot is presented sparingly - through the setting and short remarks. It’s also worth noting that each shell body develops independently: the more often you use it, the more skills you unlock. In addition to weapons, there are consumable items and upgrades that affect combat, as well as secrets that lead to optional areas. Saves are located at certain points, which encourages you to go through entire sections. The game is short compared to genre giants, but dense: almost every battle here decides something. It is also worth noting that some enemies are more dangerous than bosses, so caution is more important than pressure here. The game doesn't try to be long or explanatory. Mortal Shell is an option for those who like complex battles and don’t mind figuring out the rules on their own.
