Steelrising brings the story of the French Revolution into the world of machinery: Paris in 1789 is captured by automatons, which the king ordered to build. Opposing them is Ezhis, a mechanical dancer created by a master, and at the same time the most unusual hero of an action role-playing film. She has to fight her way through the city, figuring out who exactly controls the army of machines. Combat is built on endurance and precision: each weapon class has its own combinations, and dodges and blocks work differently depending on the chosen style. Additionally, Ezhis is equipped with tools that allow you to set fire to, stun or attract enemies, which is why the fights are varied. The world is divided into areas that open up gradually: you can return to places you have already passed and get to places where you had no access before. Side quests introduce you to the people of the revolution - here you meet both historical figures and fictional characters, each with their own destiny. It’s also worth noting that the game has a lot of boss battles: each enemy has its own set of attacks, which you have to learn in practice. Training and weapon modifications allow you to choose a convenient combination to suit your own style. For the niche genre about alternative history, this is a solid work. The game was made by the Spiders studio and does not try to impress with its scale, but the steampunk atmosphere and mechanics look solid. For those who love demanding action games with an unusual setting, the Steelrising provides a fresh take on familiar events.
