DARK SOULS: REMASTERED

DARK SOULS: REMASTERED is an updated version of the cult Japanese action RPG, released in 2011. The original was made by studio From Software, and the remaster was released in May 2018 by QLOC. The game remains the same high-stakes third-person action game: every encounter requires attention, and death is not considered something out of the ordinary. Weapons, shields and magic provide different approaches to fights, and bonfires serve as save and rest points. Character classes are set by initial characteristics, and further development occurs due to the souls found. Covenants and player invasions add a constant backdrop of alien presence to a solo campaign. The world of Lordran is connected by shortcuts, and opening a new road is perceived as a real reward. Rings, souls and humanity form a system in which an error in the assembly has a long-lasting effect. The locations are intertwined: the lift leads to the underground city, and behind the wall a whole area is discovered. This arrangement of the world is still considered a model for the genre. The online features retained everything we loved about the original: ghosts of allies, invasions and messages on earth. The remaster improved the frame rate and performance on modern systems, adding convenience without changing the essence. Individual opponents are still considered examples of design, and their arenas have been studied to the last detail by players. The community continues to find secrets and new ways to progress. For anyone who wants to start getting acquainted with the series from the beginning, this version is best suited.
