Batman - The Telltale Series

Batman - The Telltale Series is an episodic Dark Knight action game that focuses on story and choices rather than fights. The player controls both the hero in the suit and his daily life, and decisions in conversations determine how allies and opponents will behave. Scenes are built on dialogue with a time limit: you have to answer quickly, and this creates a feeling of real pressure. Fights are presented as mini-games, where you need to guess the direction of the blow and press the button in time, but the main thing is still in conversations and plans. One of the central themes is the family's past and Bruce Wayne's reputation, which turns out to be much more complicated than he thought. The characters here are not divided into righteous and villains, and this makes the story more interesting: sometimes an ally becomes more dangerous than an open enemy. Separately, it is worth noting that all the decisions of the season add up to a whole picture: a previously offended character may refuse to help in the finale, and a well-timed remark changes the situation. Between episodes they show previews of the next episode, just like in a TV series. There is also a scene review mode where you can see what the story would have looked like with a different choice. Separately, it is worth noting that each character has his own position, and it does not change to the opposite: if someone is opposed to the hero, he can only be convinced by actions. The graphics and engine are not stellar, but the structure of the season is neatly built: each episode ends on an intriguing note. For those who love stories with consequences, the game provides a rare opportunity to influence the plot rather than just watch it.
