Wandering Sword - a young sword master is drawn into a blood feud and miraculously remains alive. There is nowhere else to retreat, and instead of fleeing, he takes on the long path to mastery, to become what fate made him, and to deal with those who almost killed him. The world is drawn with pixel graphics, but it looks three-dimensional: Chinese cities with markets and teahouses, mountain paths, rivers, animal lairs and traps on the roads. The project was assembled on a Unreal Engine, and the scenery is more reminiscent of a moving picture than a familiar set of levels, and it’s easy to get lost between locations. Combat switches between turn-based and real-time battles, so the player chooses his own fighting style. The arsenal is huge: hundreds of forms of martial arts and types of weapons, and energy develops through meridians, which is why the path turns out to be external and internal at the same time. The hero walks freely across the lands, meets sects, masters and fellow travelers, carries out assignments and understands local feuds. The techniques learned form their own chains, and relationships with people open up access to rare techniques that are otherwise impossible to reach. Some events in cities happen only at certain hours, and at night the roads become much more dangerous. Companions are taught techniques, and in battle they hold their roles while the player controls the main character. Developing energy through the meridians opens up access to internal techniques that work differently than sweeping external blows. For those who love leisurely oriental stories about martial arts and are ready to understand dozens of styles.
