This is Football 2

The This is Football 2 puts the emphasis not on stunts, but on team management. Exclusive for the first PlayStation from SCE Studios Soho and Sony Computer Entertainment: the player is asked not only to hit the ball, but also to think about formation, substitutions and tactics depending on the course of the match. Matches tend to be deliberate: passes require precision, and defensive actions require timely choice of position. A weak squad against a strong one has almost no chance without a competent scheme, so the tactics menu here is not decoration, but a working tool. Chances are not scored from any distance - you need to bring the attack to mind. In addition to single matches, tournaments and a season with a table are available, where the result is more important than beauty. There is also support for four-player play, which turns home evenings into mini-championships with disappointing losses and memorable endings. It is also worth noting that before the match you can set the weather, duration and difficulty of the opponent - a little thing that seriously changes the course of the game. The tactical menu allows you to quickly reorganize if you miss a goal and need to move forward. It is also useful that the team reacts to the schemes: players perform inappropriate settings sluggishly, but correct ones - with full dedication. There is also a quick friendly matches mode, which is convenient when you don’t have time to complete a long tournament. Today the game looks modest: the player models are conventional, and the animations are minimal. But for its time it was a rare case of football where the head was required, and not just quick fingers, and this approach is still felt in the very structure of matches.
