State of Decay takes you to an open world after an outbreak, where the player is in charge of a handful of survivors. Control is carried out from a third person, and shooting, silent attacks and base arrangement are combined in one game. The key here is not the shooting, but the economy. The shelter must be maintained: food, medicine, building materials and fuel are mined in the surrounding area, and supplies are consumed every day. People get tired, get sick and die seriously - if a character dies, he will not return, and his skills are lost along with him. Each survivor is unique: some are better with weapons, some with repairs, some are afraid to go outside. There are several settlements, relationships between groups change, and some of the tasks are related to neighbors. It is also worth noting that you cannot go beyond the base indefinitely: each survivor has a reserve of strength, and the group has a need to rest and heal. Some tasks require a quiet approach, because noise attracts not only the infected, but also marauders. Over time, new types of weapons appear and the ability to improve the shelter, equip a kitchen, workshop or infirmary. There are also random events: a missing person, a found bag, a strange camp - and each requires a solution. All this makes the game more of a story about people than about zombies, and that's what makes it memorable. The game requires planning: a run for supplies easily ends with the loss of the hero. For those who like survival with permanent solutions, the State of Decay remains a solid option.
