Starsector

Starsector is a single-player adventure with a procedurally generated world. Previously, the project was called Starfarer, but the developers changed it. The ship's hull is hung with guns and shields. The battle takes place taking into account shields, speed and overheating of guns. Ships can be re-equipped for new tasks. Hyperspace gates connect distant systems. Mercenaries and patrols change the balance of systems. Before starting, the player chooses his fate: join one of seven factions, remain on his own, or become a mercenary. Events take place in 3126, when the transport gate allows you to fly faster than light. Trading brings less risk, but is more reliable. Faction patrols check the cargo and demand documents. Each system has its own dangers. Trade routes are dangerous, but bring good profits. The captain decides what to trade and who to fight with. Such travel was called the cosmic golden age. Ships are assembled from modules, and trade, mercenary missions and robbery provide different ways to profit. Pirates and patrols await in the most profitable systems. Lighthouses and stations serve as refueling points. Stations offer repairs, fuel and new orders. The fleet grows along with the captain's reputation. Hyperspace gates open the way between the stars. The fleet grows from one vessel to an entire formation. Contracts can be fair or not. Naval commanders wage wars, and this affects prices. Battles take place in real time and require maneuver.
