Ori and the Will of the Wisps

Ori and the Will of the Wisps is an adventure platformer with hand-drawn graphics. The hero goes to the distorted lands to save them from evil and overcome the obstacles prepared by fate. The little spirit Ori can run along walls, jump with the help of enemies and swim underwater, and new skills provide access to previously closed places. The platforming is fair and demanding, but without punishment for mistakes. Saves won't let you rest: the flow of water rises, enemies rain down from the ceiling, and beetles are hot on your heels. Skills like double jump and dash must be used quickly and accurately. The world is filled with creatures and stories: some of the inhabitants give tasks, others simply live their lives. Bosses and fights with predators require speed, but the musical theme and animation turn each fight into a scene. Resident side quests reveal the history of the region and provide rewards that make the journey easier. Puzzles are often related to movement: you need to jump at the right time, push off from an enemy, or fly over an abyss. Mistakes are not punished, but the path to the final is still not easy. Collectibles, secrets, and time trials provide reasons to return to familiar areas. The picture and sound here are so good that the game is often cited as an example of artistic design. The music was recorded by an orchestra, and it changes along with the mood of the scenes: from alarming silence to a full hall. The additions added challenges and modes where you need to get by with a minimum of abilities. For those who love beautiful metroidvanias and are not afraid of difficulty, this road is suitable.
