Captivity, ransom and release of prisoners are part of everyday life, and it is possible to come to an agreement with the nobles. Tournaments and feasts give reputation, and long trips stretch over game weeks. Battles take place in real time, and the hero personally participates in them on horseback or on foot, giving orders to squads. Siege weapons, storming walls, cavalry raids and retreats require an understanding of the terrain, otherwise even a large detachment will scatter. The siege consists of stages: first, ladders and battering rams are built, then the storming of the walls and fighting in the streets begins. The political part is also important: clans, kingdoms and vassals weave intrigues, and marriage, reputation and oaths influence a career as much as a sword. Community mods add new nations and scenarios to the world. Lords remember actions and change their attitude towards the player, and clan loyalty can be lost because of one decision.
