Magicka - An order of wizards received a seemingly simple task: to catch an evil sorcerer who is about to turn the world upside down. It seems simple only on paper, but in reality thirteen levels of sheer disaster await the hero and his companions. There are no classes here: all magicians are armed with a staff and the same set of elements. The strength of the technique depends on the combination, so lightning against a wet opponent works differently than against a dry one, and ice and a shield require timely changes of elements. You can get together with four people, and half the fun is built on the fact that it’s easy to finish off an ally with your own spell or set it on fire in a narrow corridor. Death is not seriously punished: a comrade is raised on the spot if there is someone nearby with the required spell. The weapon is absurd in places - look at Excalibur, stuck in a stone and pulled out only at a certain angle. The world is inspired by Germanic-Scandinavian myths, and the tone is between parody and serious fairy tale, which makes the short chapters memorable. Combinations of elements have to be memorized: a stone hits hard, fire sets fire to oil and dry grass, water extinguishes the flame, and lightning, together with cold, turns into deadly ice. The difficulty honestly increases: towards the end there are so many enemies on the screen that without coordinated work the company dies at the very first bridge. Obstacles stuck on the path are removed by the correct reaction to the environment, and not by brute force. Each new spell is first discovered in the order’s book, and it can only be tested in practice under fire. Anyone who wants to go through the campaign in a group and laugh at mutual arson.
