The House Builder starts with the common idea of ​​three things a person must do - but only one of them will be dealt with here. The player picks up tools and builds: first small houses, then mansions and even non-residential buildings. The mechanics are detailed and almost manual: mix the mortar, lay out the bricks, set up the frames, do the wiring. Each stage requires its own actions, and mistakes are immediately visible - a misalignment turns into a crack, and incorrect masonry turns into a rework. The project teaches patience: it is impossible to build a skyscraper here in five minutes. The tasks are different: in some places you need to build a structure based on a model, in others you need to remake an existing one. New materials and techniques are gradually being discovered, and the process is going faster. There is a mode without restrictions where you can build to your liking. It is also worth noting that the game has both orders and a free mode: you can assemble houses according to instructions, or you can build for yourself, choosing the layout and materials. New tools are gradually being discovered, and work is progressing noticeably faster. Mistakes are not punished financially, but the result is immediately visible: a wall placed crooked will remain crooked and will have to be redone. It is worth adding that in the game there is a noticeable difference between the types of buildings: a small temporary shed can be assembled in half an hour, while a full-fledged house with communications turns into a long project that takes several evenings. The graphics are simple, the physics are strange in places, but the essence is conveyed correctly: House Builder is a game about how a whole house is assembled from little things, and this is why it is addictive.
