DOOM (2016)

DOOM 2016 of the year is a restart of the series, which began its movement towards speed and platforming. Compared to the DOOM Eternal, it feels slower and much closer to horror, although the name calls for a fight from the very beginning. The first minutes pass in the dark corridors of the base, where you have to make do with a pistol. The atmosphere is based on sound: heavy steps, roar and operation of mechanisms set the mood. The Doom Slayer wakes up on a Martian base where experiments with hell have gotten out of control. The staff has turned into demon soldiers, and recordings and voices are scattered along the corridors, from which a picture of what happened is formed. The arenas are gradually expanding, and each new gun changes the feeling of the battle. Combat requires constant movement: shooting alternates with tackles, dodging, and finishing off wounded creatures from which health can be taken. The arenas are designed so that the player rushes between covers and supplies, rather than sitting in a corner. Secret rooms and mini-games like classic levels are hidden in the most unexpected places. Secrets are hidden behind walls and in branches, and passing on high difficulty turns into a separate test of endurance. Multiplayer scenes and a map editor added to the project's long life, but it was the single-player part that is considered its main achievement. Additional levels and arena tests extend the single part by ten hours. For those players who love tough shootouts with a clear rhythm, this base will be remembered for a long time.
