Description
Boxer's Story is a boxing simulator with a plot that tells the story of an athlete named Adam Bradbury. The player goes through the hero's journey from the very first training day to the moment when he fights for the title of the best boxer on the planet. Between these points there is drama, disappointments and fights that are sometimes more important to win for the plot than for statistics.
The story is divided into five chapters, each with three battles. It is not necessary to win everywhere: some fights serve to develop the character, and failure changes the tone of further events. This construction adds tension, because the outcome determines where the narrative will go.
In the ring, the player works with strikes and defense, trying to read the opponent and not waste energy. A missed accurate hit can end the fight, and stamina is spent quickly, so calculation is more important than aggression. Opponents differ in style, and you have to find your own approach for each.
It’s also worth noting that the game has training and mini-tasks that help you master defense and proper timing of a shot. The opponents have different styles, so you have to find your own approach for each. For boxing with a story, this is neat execution: the story doesn't get in the way of the fights, and the fights support the story.
The project is small in scale, but rare in concept: boxing with a clear story is rare. For those who love not only fighting, but also the personal drama of the athlete, this game will be an interesting find.
