Amnesia: The Dark Descent - Daniel wakes up in an old castle and does not remember anything from the past: before going to bed, he drank a potion that erases his memory to get rid of severe mental wounds. The consequences turned out to be much worse than he expected. You have to move carefully. The light of the lantern burns out, oil and matches are rarely found, and in the darkness the hero quickly loses his mind, and then the walls begin to move. It’s also not worth looking at monsters: just looking at them makes your mind cloudy. Mental abilities here are akin to health: the longer the hero is in the dark, the more his nerves give out and the louder his heart sounds. There is nothing and no one to fight here. Monsters roaming the corridors are not killed: they run away from them, hide in closets and block the doors with furniture. Almost any object can be picked up, twirled and used at will, and some doors can only be opened with cunning. Notes scattered around the rooms gradually form a picture of what happened in the castle and who Alexander is. Moving between floors and dungeons, the hero restores his memory, but remembering becomes more and more unpleasant. Each new room has to be explored by touch and memorized where the boxes are and where the passages lead. In some places you have to do without light at all: an open lantern attracts those who wander nearby. Locked doors can be opened by a helper, and it is better not to touch some mechanisms unless necessary. One of the episodes forces you to walk knee-deep in water, where something is constantly moving behind your back. For those who appreciate horror without combat, where the main enemy is darkness and your own sanity.
