War Robots: Planet Defender

War Robots: Planet Defender is a mech game where the action is seen from above and the player controls the heavy vehicle and its crew. The action takes place in space: planets have different biomes, and opponents range from space pirates and rebels to robots and monsters. In addition to enemies, there are civilians who need to be protected from attacks. The hero speaks on behalf of the “Defenders of the Planet” alliance: in addition to battles, he has to recruit new soldiers and develop the squad. This combination of action and little control makes the game not just a shooting game, but a gradual expansion of your own unit. Combat vehicles differ in class and armament: some can withstand blows better, others are faster and more accurate. Selecting a kit for a specific planet and type of enemies is part of the tactics. Levels are built around holding positions and defending objects, and not just around clearing the territory. It is also worth noting that between battles you have to deal with management: recruit fighters, distribute them into squads and choose which planets to help first. Simple missions gradually give way to defensive operations against multiple waves of enemies. For the genre, it's a neat mix of action and development. The game was made by a small team, and this is noticeable in the graphics, but the battles are vigorous and without unnecessary load on the system. For those who love mechanics and space, this is a good option for the evening.
