The Long Dark

The Long Dark is a survival simulator where the main challenge is cold and loneliness in the endless snow. The graphics and night sky here have been repeatedly noted by players as one of the best parts of the project. The plot is presented through letters, notes and meetings, and the choice determines how the path of a particular hero will turn out. The gameplay is divided into two modes: story passage of five episodes and survival without limits. The total duration of the story is measured in tens of hours and depends on how carefully the player follows the trail of events. Clothing, shoes and tools wear out, so items are assembled with attention to detail. Survival is built on little things: temperature, fatigue, thirst and hunger rise simultaneously, and wolves and bears watch every step. Matches, fuel and clothing are more valuable than weapons, and one mistake can end the trip. Bears and wolves pose a real threat, and a fight with them often ends in injury and long treatment. Animals do not attack without reason, but this is not worth checking. Gathering and hunting provide food and materials, and the fire serves as a place of rest and repair. There are abandoned bases, stations and settlements in the world where tools and notes are stored. Updates and modifications have added new regions and difficulty settings. Individual challenges and records allow you to compare your survival with other players. Story episodes are released gradually, and between them you can engage in survival in a separate mode. For those who love slow survival and silence, this winter is suitable.
