Stoked: Big Air Edition is a snowboarding simulator that focuses on big mountains and high speeds. The game is atmospheric: you can feel the cold, thin air and loneliness on the slope. The riders include famous snowboarders from all over the world, and each has their own strengths. Competitions vary in format: in some it is important to drive cleanly and quickly, in others it is important to score points for tricks, and in some races you need to combine both. Weather and snow conditions affect handling, so the same route has to be tackled differently. Progress unlocks equipment, boards and new locations, and at the same time increases your reputation, which determines participation in prestigious events. Mistakes are not forgiven here: a fall throws you back and breaks the entire line of tricks, which makes you want to replay the race again. The sound is especially pleasing: the whistle of the wind, the creaking of the board and the dull thud of an unsuccessful landing add physicality to what is happening. Different mountains require a different approach: in some places the line is more important, in others the speed before the jump is more important. Due to this, even after ten hours of play, there are still spots and routes that you want to try again. The game requires patience and rewards those who are willing to learn. For those who love mountains and speed, rather than park entertainment, the Stoked: Big Air Edition is much better suited than simpler snowboard arcade games.
