SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake is a platformer about SpongeBob, who goes on a journey through distorted worlds. A gang of villains has torn apart reality, and familiar places look strange. The hero runs, hits bubbles and jumps on platforms, collecting cosmetics for costumes. Costumes change along with the elements, and with them the techniques. The levels are based on the animated series, so the jokes and characters are recognizable. In addition to tasks, collectibles are hidden in locations. Bosses occur at the end of worlds, and each has its own trick that you have to figure out. Costumes give access to new paths: in some places you need a diving helmet, and in others you need a cowboy outfit. Coins are collected by level and exchanged for bonuses from merchants. Between chapters they show scenes with cartoon characters. In difficult areas, jumping on a bubble can save you. Additional tasks are hidden and are unlocked through finds. Swimming levels give way to flying on a bubble, and underwater you need to watch the air. At the levels there are races and chases on vehicles. Bonus items are unlocked for small items collected in locations. Opponents differ in their elements, and this is noticeable in color. Some cartoon characters appear as assistants. The final battle consists of several stages. Collected coins open a gallery with sketches. The levels vary in pace: in some places you need to run without stopping. Cartoon creatures appear as helpers. Racing on the bottom and in the air gives bonuses. Some secrets are revealed only upon repeated playthrough. Some additional levels are unlocked for collected items. For those who love platformers for the whole family, this game is suitable.
