Русь 2 Total War is an independent modification based on Medieval 2: Total War - Kingdoms. The battles take place in real time, and on the global map moves are made one by one. The setting shows ancient Rus' starting from 1015. After the death of Vladimir the Baptist, the state entered a period of schism and fragmentation. A siege requires ladders and battering guns. Princes fight for power and primacy in the political arena. You can take control of the Russians, Polovtsians, Volga Bulgars, Khazars or Pechenegs. Distant countries are also available: Bulgaria, Sweden, Alania, Georgia and Poland. There is no plot in the mod, but the mechanics allow you to set the conditions for the start and end of things. The squad is replenished from peasants and mercenaries. The main task is to defeat opponents and strengthen power over as many regions as possible. Sieges and captures of foreign strongholds are on par with battles in the open field. You also have to defend yourself from raids regularly. The economy and the army are kept under supervision: buildings are built, troops are hired, and barracks are needed to train soldiers. Relations at the political level are no less important. Alliances are formed with neighbors or war is declared. Taxes are collected from citizens, mines and agriculture support the treasury, and merchants generate profits. Among the units there are shooters, swordsmen, cavalry, spies and merchants, and entire battalions are assembled from mercenaries. There are no guilds or Crusades here, and the warriors and menu are stylized to reflect the historical era. This game is suitable for anyone who likes to rewrite the history of Rus'.
