Planetbase is a strategy about building a colony on a planet where there is neither air nor water. The settlers are divided by specialty, and their number determines what can be built. The base grows in sections: the domes are connected by transitions, and energy and oxygen are counted for all. Wells and greenhouses require maintenance, otherwise the colony dies. The landing site affects the difficulty: somewhere there is enough sun, and somewhere meteorites are falling. Buildings can be repaired and rebuilt according to your plan. The settlers come in batches, and each takes on a different role: doctor, biologist, miner. Warehouses are replenished from greenhouses and drilling sites, and some resources are mined on the surface. Meteorites and sandstorms destroy buildings, so repairs are routine. The colony expands in sections, and communication routes depend on the layout. The game ends with the death of the base or its prosperity. Engineers fix breakdowns, but there may not be enough of them to fix everything at once. The energy is distributed between the domes, and overload threatens to shut down.
