Battlefield 1942

The Desert Combat modification for the Battlefield 1942 takes the action six decades after the events of the original - from World War II, players find themselves in the Gulf War, a real modern conflict. You can fortify yourself in key positions with a simple soldier, ram fortifications with a powerful tank, or shoot down planes while piloting a jet fighter. This is one of the first truly massively multiplayer shooters and essentially a tactical simulator. The maps stretch for many kilometers - much beyond the limitations of the original game, and you have to navigate them using jeeps and armored vehicles. The desert is divided into zones marked with flags, and the teams' success is forged in fierce battles for strategic points. The economy of victory is tied to tickets: every killed fighter and every damaged vehicle reduces the team's reserves. In terms of content, the game has grown significantly: locations in the spirit of the Middle East, many new weapons, artillery and military equipment, including modern planes and helicopters. There are more classes of fighters, and the difference between them is felt much stronger. The graphics are not new for a long time, but the project will run on any computer, and the scale of combat operations is surprising even today.
