Above the Clouds

Above the Clouds is a visual novel for adults about a young man who moved to another city with his family long ago. One day, the father announces that he must return to a small provincial town, and this news changes everyone’s plans. This is where the story begins: the hero finds himself again where he spent his childhood, and meets people who remember him as a completely different person. Conversations and decisions determine what relationships will develop and how the hero will cope with a past that he does not want to remember. The format is classic: dialogues, illustrations, saves, several branches of development. Certain scenes are intended for adults only, and this is explicitly stated. The duration is noticeable: to see different lines, you will have to replay. It is also worth noting that the plot is presented in chapters, and some of the decisions noticeably change the attitude towards the characters: what seemed like a trifle at the beginning later leads to other scenes. There is a gallery and a magazine where you can see what you have covered. The small-town atmosphere is conveyed convincingly, and this gives the story additional weight. It is also worth noting that the story raises themes that are not limited to romance: returning to the place where you spent your childhood, relationships with parents and attempts to understand what happened before. This is what makes the project more interesting than an ordinary dating novel. Some scenes are addressed to adults, and this is stated directly. The project doesn't try to be more than it is: it's a leisurely story about returning home, where the main events happen in conversations, not in actions.
