The Simpsons Skateboarding

The Simpsons Skateboarding brings skateboarding to Springfield, as the player skates around familiar locations like Krustyland and the elementary school, performing tricks and challenges. Characters from the animated series speak lines, and the locations are filled with recognizable references, which is the main advantage of the game. The mechanics are based on elements familiar to the genre: acceleration, ollies, kickflips, grinds along the railings and links in the air. Tasks are given by characters and gradually become more difficult, and success unlocks new skaters and areas. The controls are simple, but require precision in complex combinations. The main problem of the project is that it came out against the backdrop of strong competitors and was noticeably inferior to them in terms of depth. The tricks here are less responsive and the levels aren't as well designed for chaining. But the Springfield atmosphere and humor remained in place, and for fans of the series this is a good reason. Separately, it is worth noting that the game contains tasks from characters from the series and unlockable skaters, including Homer and Bart. The locations are filled with references that are only noticeable to fans. For fans of the cartoon, this is precisely the main value of the project. The game does not claim to be the best skateboarding game, and yet it remains a curious artifact: the opportunity to ride through the streets of the city where the Simpsons live is expensive for fans of the cartoon.
