The Ascent

The Ascent is an isometric action game with role-playing elements, which takes place in a future world divided between corporations. Everything rests on the Ascent Group organization, until one day it falls apart, and the hero, its employee, has to survive without an employer. The shooting here is intense: enemies are advancing from all sides, cover is not always helpful, and you have to constantly move. Weapons vary in type and characteristics, and leveling up allows you to invest in strength, defense, or special abilities. There are also cybernetic improvements that significantly change the style of combat. The world looks like a multi-level city with neighborhoods, markets and slums, and it's fun to just walk around. The plot is told through quests and conversations, and side quests reveal what's going on on the lower floors. It is also worth noting that the world is divided into levels, and climbing to the top opens up areas with a different atmosphere and stronger opponents. In addition to shootouts, there are side quests that reward equipment and money. Leveling up allows you to change your style: you can make your hero durable, or you can invest in damage and speed. The game is long, but it’s easy to play through in parts, and returning to it is easy thanks to its clear structure. It is also worth noting that weapons and equipment can be changed at any time, adapting to a specific battle. The game is designed for those who love dynamic shootouts and a dark atmosphere. Technically it is made solidly, but the picture can be called heavy - for today’s cars this is no longer a problem, but part of the mood.
