Ice Age 3: Age of the Dinosaurs brings the film's events to the screen in an arcade-style adventure that retells the familiar story. Sid and Diego while away the evening telling baby mammoth Peach a tale about their recent adventures, and this tale turns into a series of episodes through which they have to go. The campaign consists of 19 chapters and an epilogue, and in each the characters change: either you lead the clumsy Sid, then Diego with his jumping and climbing, or the tireless Buck, the one-eyed dinosaur hunter. The action takes place in the underground world, where eggs, nuts and other valuables are hidden among vines, ferns and bones, and dinosaurs of all sizes are encountered along the way. Between levels there are mini-games and short tasks, and Scrat, with his eternal pursuit of the acorn, acts as a separate source of jokes. The controls are simple, the levels are completed quickly, and this is a conscious calculation: the game is made for children and family play, where it is not the challenge that is important, but the process. The music and sound are transferred from the cartoon, so familiar themes are heard where needed, and the characters' lines are voiced with the same intonation. Locations replace each other quickly: caves, jungles, ice areas, geysers and entire scenes with chases. The campaign is completed in a matter of evenings, but for a family arcade this is rather a plus - no one has time to get bored, and the child does not have to wade through difficult levels. The humor of the original is preserved, the characters are recognizable, and the plot does not stray far from what was shown in the movies. If you are looking for a quiet arcade game for a couple of evenings for a child or to go through it with him on the same computer, “Ice Age 3: Age of the Dinosaurs” is suitable without reservations.
