Kenshi forces you to survive from the first minutes: the hero appears in a world with almost no property, where everyone he meets can turn out to be an enemy. This is an open-world role-playing game with the ability to assemble your own squad. Starting without resources feels fair: at first it’s easier to work as a porter and trade than to fight. Gradually, the detachment acquires armor, weapons and its own camp. New opportunities are gradually opening up: you can build buildings anywhere on the map, recapture them from other factions, trade in settlements, craft equipment and explore the environment. The only thing to avoid is being captured by savages. The world is divided between factions with complex relationships, and some settlements are at enmity with each other. Travel takes hours, and the map is remembered by landmarks. Skills grow with practice: to steal well, you need to steal constantly, and to kill, you will have to participate in fights. There are no formal levels, so experience is gained literally step by step. Construction allows you to start a real economy: mines, farms and workshops generate income. Defending a base requires walls, guards, and supplies. The world is cruel and does not adapt to the player: slavery, hunger and faction wars are commonplace here. Modifications and the editor have long ago turned the game into a platform for your own stories. The mod community has added a ton of weapons, factions, and starting scenarios over the years. This wasteland gives a chance to everyone who is ready to start from scratch and rise on their own.
