Hotline Miami

Hotline Miami is a two-dimensional action game with a top-down view, created by a small studio Dennaton Games.. The release took place in October 2012, and the authors did not hide the fact that they were inspired by films about crime and the drive of the old school. The plot is told through strange calls and meetings, and it gradually becomes clear who is behind the orders. The action is built on short levels: a masked hero enters a building and methodically removes everyone inside. One hit kills both the enemy and the player, so shootouts turn into puzzles of speed and accuracy. Masks give small bonuses, and the choice of equipment determines how the passage through the floor will be. Weapons are scattered everywhere: bats, knives, pistols and shotguns work in different ways. Enemies react to noise, and you have to build a route taking into account who will hear you. Enemies are divided into types, and each has its own weapon and reaction to noise. The levels are short, but they are replayed dozens of times for cleaner completion and higher scores. The music sets the rhythm better than any instructions, and the plot is presented in ragged scenes, after which there are more questions than answers. Continuations and additions expanded the story, and modifications added levels. The sequel expanded the story, and the soundtrack still ranks first in the collections. The compositions of composer Pertturi Kivimäki have long become symbols of the project and are recognizable from the first seconds. The sequel expanded the story and added new mechanics, and some compositions are listened to outside the game. Those players who love fast-paced battles accompanied by electronic music will love this carnage.
