The composition of the fighters is changing, and the country lives by its own rules: somewhere allies are waiting, somewhere else there are foreign garrisons. The map is generated anew every campaign, so the location of cities, oil fields and enemy strongholds is new each time, and along with it the routes and goals change. There are hundreds of events at locations, and along the way you have to reveal enemy positions through reconnaissance. Commanders are given names, they gain experience and perks, lose their strength and go into battle again. Battles take place in a two-dimensional mode, where the order of moves, cover and the ability to retreat in time are important, and the final victory depends on how people and resources are managed. Between sorties, the camp lives its own life: soldiers demand food and medicine, the wounded are recovering, and commanders have new stories and requests. Weapons and armor are collected from those found and purchased, and each piece changes the tactics of the small squad. In cities, you can find out news about enemy movements and recruit supporters in exchange for resources. The death of a fighter is irreversible, so it is better to let those who are prepared go into battle, and keep newcomers in the second line.
