The Driving Survival (BEWARE) offers the experience of night racing in conditions far removed from normal competition. The environment around is hostile, and the car is not only a means of transportation, but also the only shelter. The mechanics are based on tension: there are pursuers along the road, but you don’t want to stop. Management is demanding and mistakes are costly. There are elements of exploration: you can go off the route and look for something useful. The design is deliberately gloomy, the sound is oppressive. The project is small and made more as an experiment than as a full-fledged game for tens of hours, and it is worth judging it within this framework. Night as a constant pressure: you can see little, but the sound suggests that there is someone nearby. You can’t stop, otherwise the pursuer will catch up, so you have to drive even on a bad road. Some episodes go through quickly, others force you to restart the race several times. The music is unsettling and the artwork is deliberately dark to enhance the feeling of a road to nowhere. The project is short, so it is viewed more as an experiment than as a game for tens of hours. Once you stop, the pursuer catches up, so you have to drive even on a broken road. You rarely come across forks, but a mistake on them is costly and requires restarting the race. Other levels are played in open areas, where it is easier to escape pursuit. There are tests on long straights, where it is important not to lose speed. For anyone who likes unusual horror on the road, the Driving Survival is suitable.
