DarkSwitch

DarkSwitch is a grim combination of city building simulator and tower defense, where settlements are built in multi-tiered ways. The foundation is a gigantic plant. The base plant grows with the city, and its branches serve as support for the tiers. The buildings are attached to the trunk, so the layout resembles floors. The base serves as both a home and a source of resin, so it is protected. Night attacks by creatures of the fog require the proper distribution of solarium - energy extracted from resin. It powers defensive weapons, and the light of lanterns scares away the darkness. The solarium is distributed manually, so there are not enough tools for everything. Sometimes it is more profitable to illuminate one sector instead of three dim ones. At night, the map darkens, and only the illuminated areas remain visible. During the day, time is spent building cable cars, elevators and suspension bridges, because the tiers must be connected to each other. The layout determines how quickly residents can get to work. Fog is opposed to light and order, which is why lanterns are placed at nodes. Gaps in light become passages for darkness. Residents ascend and descend using ropes, so congested routes slow down construction. The plot unfolds through entries and encounters, and the setting changes as the city grows. Updates add buildings and enemies. Some nights bring large opponents against whom special weapons are needed. Preparation is more important than reaction speed. This project is suitable for anyone who loves defense and unusual cities. Updates add buildings, weapons and events. The game is known for its unusual vertical city layout.
