BERSERK and the Band of the Hawk

BERSERK and the Band of the Hawk is based on the famous manga and transfers its events into a slasher film format. The main character is the mercenary Guts, and he has to go through a series of battles that become bigger and darker each time. Fights are based on wide blows with a huge sword: there are dozens of enemies around, and precise single attacks are useless here. You need to keep the crowd at a distance, escape from encirclement in time, and use special techniques that charge up as the battle progresses. There are also bosses against whom the learned combination does not work - you have to watch and adapt. The plot is presented in scenes that repeat the key moments of the original source, and between them there are long levels with tasks such as survival or escort. In addition to the main line, there are additional modes where you can play for other characters. Separately, it is worth noting that the levels in the game are long, and there are many enemies on them, so the session rarely turns out to be short. There are also additional modes where you can complete tests for other characters and unlock new looks. The atmosphere is consistent from start to finish: gloomy landscapes, heavy music and the feeling that victories here always come at a price. The animations of the moves are made large and on a grand scale, so the blows look impressive even against the backdrop of modern games, and the music emphasizes the gloomy mood. The game is clearly aimed at fans of manga and does not hide it: the atmosphere is heavy, the tone is dark, and there is a lot of blood. It's technically a solid but not a great slasher film; they take it for the sake of the story, and not for the depth of the combat system.
